Most of the locos at Bodmin are available for private hire. Whatever your requirement, we believe that together, with our railway, we can deliver a package to suit your every need.  Please contact us to discuss your requirements.

We can provide heritage locos with historic local connections to haul your preferred train. From a solitary engine, to a luxurious dining train with three course meal, bar, and meeting facilities. Important business meetings to slide shows, parties and receptions, re-unions and AGM's. 

Locos can also be supplied for filming, as can the whole railway, which can be turned into a film set.

As an example, some hypothetical examples of train hire at the Bodmin & Wenford Railway;

Pioneering Cornish class 37, 37142 on a typical Wenfordbridge clay train. Travel in the Guard's brake van (or vans). Request an opportunity to stop and alight to photograph your train from the lineside. Enjoy a pint of locally brewed Real Ale with a Cornish Pasty from the temporary bar set up inside a brake van.

2,750hp 16 cylinder English Electric locomotive 50042 "Triumph" on a rake of 'chocolate and cream' dining coaches. Enjoy a finger buffet or a full, four course meal.

Sulzer Symphony with 33110 or 47306 "The Sapper" top and tailing a normal rake of mark one coaches. Enjoy as many trips as you like by hiring the train for an evening's entertainment with locos working hard on the extremely steep inclines.

BRAKE VAN TRIPS

For small parties who want something very different! A special train consisting of up to 3 goods train brake vans each of which can carry up to 15 persons people (Total 45) hauled by one or two locomotives. Travel is rough and ready with open verandahs and basic seating. A barbecue or pasty can be served during the trip. We can even provide a limited bar with real ale, lager and some soft drinks. A nice way to see the line the way it used to be worked

TRAIN CHARTER

Using our normal coaching stock comprising open coaches with tables for 4 and “old fashioned” compartments each holding 6 or 8 persons this train is suitable for any number of passengers up to over 200.
A bar is available on the train stocking a selection of beers, wines, spirits and soft drinks. Tea and coffee is also available.
 

Entertainment

Solve a Murder Mystery whilst enjoying the train journey. Watch and listen as this professionally staged murder plot unfolds before your very eyes. Question the cast. View the murder scene - choose your suspect.

Enjoy a Jazz Band playing live on the train and at all the stations along your journey. Ideal if combined with a Fish & Chips or a Cornish Pasty and a drink or two! Other music options available including Big Band and Country & Western.

Have a party with a Disco on the train.  Local DJ with a wide selection of music to suit all ages - from the 1940s, 50s, 60s, 70, 80s 90s and noughties! 
Dance floor on the train with special effect lighting. 

Catering

Various catering options are available, including catering for specific diets.
You can have a number of seats, a coach or coaches on our service trains as shown in current timetable or you can have an entire train to yourself at other times.
